In addition to my landscape abstractions, I also produce my "other works". These organically patterned pieces are inspired by my love of fabrics, Asian art and Arabesque patterning. They are spontaneous and somewhat whimsical, although each piece is a planned and constructed arrangement of design elements.
I use charcoal, pencil and oil pastels to draw onto my canvases. I have allowed much of this understructure to show through the top layers, giving a certain linear quality to the pieces. Surface texture is also important, with raised edges left by the palette knife becoming part of the imagery. Some of the pieces have gold leafed areas, adding a bit of opulence.
