      My paintings explore the evolving relationship between the human figure and the landscape. After many years of working primarily with landscape, I have begun incorporating figures as an integral part of the landscape’s visual structure rather than as subjects simply placed within it.

Figures emerge, recede, and sometimes nearly dissolve into the surrounding space, becoming connected to the rhythms, shapes, and movement of the landscape. This allows me to explore the space between recognition and abstraction, where a figure can suggest both a human presence and another element within the natural world.

I am interested in landscape as more than a depiction of place. It becomes a space for exploring memory, perception, atmosphere, and emotion through color, form, movement, and light. My process is intuitive and continually evolving, allowing the figure and landscape to inform and transform one another.
